FOOSH Energy Mints
A review of:FOOSH Energy Mints by: Etali

FOOSH Energy Mints, made by Vroom foods, are due to arrive in the UK this month - on sale in Superdrug stores for £1.99 a pack.

We had the chance to test these mints out, and can say that they certainly live up to their claims.

FOOSH Energy Mints are designed to keep you alert and performing at your gaming best. They contain the same amount of caffeine as a coffee, and 25% more than a can of Red Bull, or, put another way, the same as three (yes 3) cans of Cola.

Not only that, they also contain a combination of B vitamins, ginseng and taurine - and they’re sugar free!

FOOSH Energy Mints are pretty large - about the size or an old fashioned mint imperial. They look quite cool, with their logo stamped on them, and with some pretty blue flecks in them. You don’t look at mints though, you eat them, and I must admit they taste pretty interesting.

When you put them in your mouth, you are hit with a strong minty taste that is enough to wake you up by itself, even ignoring the caffeine! As they disolve, they have an interesting texture that bubbles on your tongue. I tend to slowly suck on the mint, and find that it can take several minutes to finish it - the aftertaste lingers for a very long time, leaving your mouth feeling fresh, and taking away that last bit of tiredness.

In terms of a caffeine hit, they do seem to work. I’m a coffee addict of the worst kind and I found that one of these on a morning does help to get me lucid a little quicker. They also help stave off tiredness for those late night MMO bashing sessions.

They were tested both during a late night session with my guildmates in Star Wars Galaxies, and the morning after. I'm sure all you gamers will know that bashing with a Jedi in a large group can get tedious sometimes - you need a lot of experience to get even one skill box, and its hard to stay motivated. Pop one of these with a soft drink (so you don't have to go AFK too long, compared to making a coffee) and prepare yourself for a night of real grinding.

I tend to combine mine with a coffee as a little added pick-me-up. I think of them as a vitamin pill rather than as a sweet and pretend I’m on a health kick instead of snacking.

In my mind FOOSH Energy Mints are perfect for people who want to stay alert while on sniper duty in a long online game, or people who realised they’ve gamed the day away and now have University coursework to finish by morning. You don’t have time to make a coffee, and most soft drinks don’t have the ‘oomph’ you need to keep your mind active - these mints are a quick and convenient solution.

A pack of 12 might not sound like many, but I’ve found that I only go through about three a day, and if you compare the price to something like Pro Plus then it compares very well.

As a final bonus - they're fat free, and contain only 5 calories each. Highly recommended.
