War World is a fast paced 3rd person shooter.
The action is extremely fast and lots of fun.
You take one of three Mechs and outfit it with weapons of mass destruction.
Weapon choices are mini guns or lasers. There is different types of each weapon so you can customize your load out to accommodate different factors, i.e. credit restrictions or just to go with game rules.
Once you have these weapons selected you can slap in some extra equipment ie shields, jump jets and even more weapons: missiles, mortars.
Once you have selected all your weapons and equipment you will have one mean mech to go out and cause mass destruction and carnage with. Gameplay is the classic deathmatch or team deathmatch.
Deathmatch is fast with no lag on any of the servers we played. Here you will be up against 1-7 other players, with the total number of players in the game being 8.
Action is fast paced with everyone letting rip with massive amounts of firepower. There’s not much that’s more fun than a group of players coming together is a mass fire fight. Even in the extreme action there is no lag, everything was very smooth.
Even in the fast paced death match its easy to control your mech and work out what’s happening, the interface is very well displayed and easy to pick up.
The radar will show you where mechs are and pickups, you also have ammo for each weapon you loaded onto the mech, a health bar and a shield bar. Controls are easy, you can configure them all yourself but the defaults are fine to start with. The game uses the standard w-a-s-d and mouse config to control your mech.
Mech config is easy to use and this is where you will select all the different weapons/equipment to build your mech. The shop as its called can also be accessed during the game so you can adjust your mech during game play. The mech has 2 arm slots for weapons, lasers or miniguns, 3 back slots
Back slot 0 is for jets, back slot 1 is for missiles, back slot 2 is for mortars/mine launchers.
Then you have your system slot which is where you add in your shields.
The weapons are very nice and you can have a play about and pretty much get the mech setup how you want.
Miniguns are great for fast firing and spraying areas. Lasers are very powerful but slower than miniguns.
Mines are cool to lay around and try to entice your opponents to walk on them.
Missiles are fast and lock onto targets, so if you have them targeted its all fire and forget. Not that you want to forget about anything in this game because its likely to sneak up and blow you away.
Mortars are powerful ranged weapons that can be used to fire over obstacles at other mechs.
Item pickups on the levels consist of more ammo for laser, miniguns, mortars, missiles and recharges for jumpjets, strafe jets and sprint jets.
Graphics are very nice, the levels are nicely designed and look fantastic, but its not all there just for looks, hell no, take the fallen ruble or the pillars these can be used to hide behind, or jump over to shoot. Each level has elements that can offer different ways to fight, ie, Palace of Maikoah has short open corridor type sections where fighting can be close quarter with mechs dodging in and out of pillars.
Sounds is good but there nothing special, no different sound between types of weapons but it works fine you can here your lasers, miniguns and shields work. Most of the time you wont even bother listening to the sound because you will be fighting for your live in a very fast paced mech battle.
Overall this is a quality game with some nice touches, everything looks good and runs smoothly.
Battles are easily as fast as anything in unreal tournament 2004 and a lot more fun.
